CELEBRATING
Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA)
HERITAGE MONTH!
The term APIDA represents the Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi-American diaspora. Representing a vast and diverse community of cultures, ethnic heritages, languages, beliefs, and values, the APIDA community represents over 40 ethnic groups, indigenous tribes, and communities within the Asian identity.
In the words of the late civil rights activist, Yuri Kochiyama:
"Unless we know ourselves and our history, and other people and their history, there is really no way that we can really have positive kind of interaction where there is real understanding.”
In the month of may, the world recognizes and celebrates the strides, contributions, and cultural joy of APIDA folk from Asia and the Pacific Islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. Let us celebrate Asian joy!
