Professional Development Grant
Description
The Professional Development Grant provides support for individual professional development for alumni members of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. This fund is intended to encourage professional development and networking through attendance or active participation with academic or professional meetings, webinars, seminars, certifications or conferences by helping members defray the costs associated with these activities. Awards are allocated on a rolling basis until all funds are distributed.
Eligibility & Award Criteria
All alumni members of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc are eligible to submit proposals. The Grant will support participation in a professional development meeting, seminar, certification or licensure or conference of a professional association related to their career objective. Participation can include presentation of scholarly work, active participation in a poster session, an annual conference, seminar for certification, webinars for licensure or materials for continued learning. Covered Expenses:
Expenses that may be covered by the fund include but are not limited to:
Association membership
Conference fees at the early bird rate
Presentation materials
Webinar attendance and online training fees
Seminar attendance fees
Continued learning materials (books, etc.)
Review Process and Evaluation Criteria:
Proposals will be reviewed by the Scholarship and Professional Development committee. Budget limitations will also impact awards. Among other factors, preference will be given to applicants who have not received SLGEF funding within the last two years.
Participant Expectations:
Grantees will be expected to adhere to the following guidelines:
Timeliness with application and reimbursements. Conference fees, association memberships, and materials will be pre-paid by the Education Foundation whenever possible. Original receipts must be presented within two weeks after the event in order to be eligible for reimbursement.
Grantees will provide proof of participation at the conference, training or event. For the purposes of this process, “proof” includes conference badge, receipts, etc.
Grantees will complete a short survey after the event on the impact your participation had on your professional development.
Application Materials
Brief Descriptions of Activity - Your activity with this event (provide a presentation summary, list of conference sessions you will attend, type of training, etc.)
Personal Statement - In no more than 500 words, provide a personal statement that gives insights into who you are and why this grant will help you. This will assist the selection committee in getting to know you and consider you a qualified applicant for a Sigma Lambda Gamma Education Foundation Grant.
Resume - Please submit a resume or curriculum vitae, including employment history. Make sure you include all your leadership positions, special honors, and community, volunteer, and campus activities.
Brief Descriptions of Association/Organizer - Description of the Association and conference/meeting such as the conference program and/or exhibitor list.
Completed membership application and/or registration form.
